Chikilra Goodman scores 19 in Stony Brook's loss to Albany

Stony Brook trimmed a 15-point first-half deficit to five in the second half but couldn't make it all the way back in a 60-49 America East women's basketball loss to host Albany Saturday.

Junior guard Chikilra Goodman had a career-high 19 points along with seven rebounds and Sabre Proctor added 14 points for Stony Brook, which finished the regular season 14-15 overall and 6-10 in the conference.

The Seawolves will be the No. 4 seed in the America East Tournament and will face No. 5 New Hampshire in a first-round game at 8 p.m. Friday in Albany.

Ebone Henry had 15 points and Megan Craig added 13 points and three blocks for Albany (25-3, 16-0).

Trailing 24-9 with 6:34 left in the first half, Stony Brook went on a a 22-11 run, including an 8-0 stretch at the start of the second half, to move within 35-31 with 17:41 left.

The Great Danes closed the door on Stony Brook's comeback attempt with a 21-4 run and went ahead 56-35 with 6:54 to go.

"I thought we came out and started well in the second half," Stony Brook coach Beth O'Boyle said. "Unfortunately, they made some plays in the first half, but I felt that we played aggressive for 40 minutes and look forward to playing in the first round of the America East Championship next weekend.''
