Stony Brook has given football coach Chuck Priore a two-year contract extension, the school announced on Thursday afternoon.

The extension means Priore will continue to lead the Seawolves' program through the 2022 season. Priore agreed to a contract extension in 2016 that ran through the 2020 season.

"I am extremely appreciative of the confidence that President Stanley and [athletic director] Shawn Heilbron have in me to help lead the Stony Brook football program," Priore said in a statement. "I am fortunate to share this with a great coaching staff and administration. I want to thank our players for all their hard work and sacrifices both on and off the field."

Priore currently is in his 13th season as coach and has an 83-64 record during his tenure at Stony Brook. The Seawolves are 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association this season, and ranked No. 18 in the FCS Coaches Poll. Priore has led Stony Brook to three appearances in the FCS playoffs, most recently in 2017.

"Our vision for Stony Brook Football is to win at the highest level, which includes competing for a national championship," Heilbron said in a statement. "Under Chuck's guidance, Stony Brook has become one of the top FCS programs in the country and it is imperative that we continue to build on that success. The plan that we have in place is working so I look forward to maintaining our upward trajectory with Chuck as our head coach."

Priore has produced two NFL players during his time at Stony Brook. Tight end Will Tye was a 2015 NFL All-Rookie selection with the Giants, and defensive end Victor Ochi played for the Jets during the 2016 season.
