It didn’t take the Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team much time to let Stanford know it was in for a long afternoon.
Kylie Ohlmiller (Islip) scored her first of four goals for the No. 14 Seawolves less than three minutes into the game in a 17-7 rout over No. 9 Stanford at LaValle Stadium Saturday. It was the largest margin of victory over a ranked opponent in program history.
Courtney Murphy (Floyd) scored a season-best six goals for the Seawolves — including five goals in a 13-4 first half coming off being named America East Co-Offensive Player of the Week and setting the program goals record.
Stanford (6-2) entered the game allowing only 25 first-half goals over its first seven games.
Kristin Yevoli (Massapequa) added three goals and two assists and Samantha DiSalvo (Hewlett) scored twice with an assist.
The Seawolves (6-3) opened a 3-0 lead in the first 11 minutes. Anna Tesoriero (Huntington) had another strong game in net with a career-best 13 saves as Stony Brook held its opponent to seven goals or fewer for the eighth time this season. The backline kept Stanford leading scorer Lucy Dikeou off the scoreboard for the first time this season.
