SBU's Jackolski, Faiella honored

The accolades for Stony Brook football continue to roll in. Running back Brock Jackolski and left guard Joe Faiella were named to The Associated Press All-America second team Thursday.
It was the second individual honor of the season for Jackolski, who was an American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches' first-team All-America pick last week.
"What an awesome feeling,'' Jackolski said after learning of the AFCA honor. "Being called an All-American is one of the highest accomplishments a football player can get. I've always wanted to call myself an All-American, and now I can.''
The 5-10 senior had 1,418 rushing yards, 114 receiving yards, 854 yards on kickoff returns (29.4-yard average) and 55 yards on punt returns (18.3-yard average) this season. He set Big South single-season records in all-purpose yards (2,441) and total touchdowns (20).
Including his two seasons at Hofstra, Jackolski gained 6,394 career all-purpose yards, good enough for 16th all-time in FCS history.
Jackolski had six 100-yard games, averaging 6.6 yards per carry overall, and totaled more than 150 all-purpose yards in 11 of 13 games this year.
He also set a Big South single-game mark with five touchdowns in a 76-28 victory over Gardner-Webb.
The Floyd graduate also saw time at cornerback late in the season as the Seawolves reached the second round of the FCS playoffs.
Faiella was instrumental in Stony Brook's rushing attack. The 6-5, 310-pound senior helped clear a path for Jackolski and junior running back Miguel Maysonet, who set Big South and Stony Brook single-season records with 15 rushing touchdowns.
Stony Brook (9-4) scored at least 40 points seven times, including a school- and Big South-record 76 points against Gardner-Webb.
