Well, that wasn’t the start Stony Brook was expecting.
Binghamton used an early 11-0 run en route to a 69-57 win over the Seawolves in an America East men’s basketball game Thursday night in Vestal, New York.
Stony Brook coach Jeff Boals, according to the team’s website, said, “I thought this would be an energy game for us. Binghamton plays better at home than on the road, so getting out to a good start was a big key for us, but they went up 14-4 and we looked like we were just going through the motions.”
SBU (10-17, 5-8) moved within 32-26 by halftime but never threatened in the second half as Binghamton (11-16, 2-10) pulled away.
The Seawolves’ Akwasi Yeboah had 18 points and 10 rebounds, the fourth double-double of the season for the redshirt sophomore. Junior Saintel added 13 points and Jaron Cornish had 12.
Fard Muhammad led Binghamton with 22 points. He was 5-for-8 from three-point range.
