Conviction in New York City death of school basketball star
A New York City man has been convicted of murder in the shooting of a nationally ranked high school basketball player in her Harlem apartment building.
Tyshawn Brockington will be sentenced on June 26 for the September 2011 death of 18-year-old Tayshana Murphy.
Brockington was arrested in South Carolina, 10 days after the crime.
He also was convicted of burglary and weapon possession.
A separate case is pending against another defendant
Murphy was a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers.
