When the Jets meet the Colts in the AFC Championship Game Sunday in Indianapolis, it will be the first time in NFL history that two rookie head coaches will face one another in a conference championship.

Jim Caldwell succeeded Tony Dungy this season in Indianapolis, and Rex Ryan took over for Eric Mangini with the Jets.

That guarantees that a rookie head coach will make it to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in NFL history. The previous four:

1970: Don McCafferty (Baltimore)
1977: Red Miller (Denver)
1989: George Seifert (49ers)
2002: Bill Callahan (Raiders)

Rookie coaches are 2-2 in Super Bowls. McCafferty and Seifert won, and Miller and Callahan lost.
