Jets veteran linebacker Bart Scott was as surprised as anyone when he woke up this morning and found out that Darrelle Revis had agreed to a contract extension to remain with the Jets for at least the next four seasons.

"I didn’t think it was going to get done," Scott said a few minutes ago in the Jets' locker room. "Last week, it looked like a dead story. That just shows you in this league you remain optimistic and you never know. You can’t really sway to one side or another. I’m just glad both sides were able to work it out."

Scott believes Revis will be ready to go shortly, but it might take some time.

"He's in tremendous shape, football shape," Scott said. "But I think you get him ready slowly."

Slowly, in this case, will almost certainly be the starting lineup in Monday night's opener against the Ravens at New Meadowlands Stadium.
