Yes, Eli Manning leads the NFL with 15 interceptions. Yes, he is playing the worst football for an extended period since coming into the league in 2004.

No, it is not time for Tom Coughlin to bench Manning for the first time in his career.

At 32, Manning still has at least five years of quality football left in him, and he needs the chance to correct his problems by playing through them, not taking a seat and watching rookie Ryan Nassib take over for a game or two.

As for drafting a quarterback early next season, that’s not the right time, either. With so much time left in Manning’s career, it’s too soon to bring someone in to groom as Manning’s heir apparent. With two Super Bowl MVP trophies on his resume, the Giants need to stay the course with their franchise quarterback, not overreact by looking for someone else to run the show.
