Bill Parcells says he's done with coaching

ORADELL, N.J. — Former NFL head coach Bill Parcells said he believes he has stepped away from the game for good after leaving his Miami Dolphins front-office post in March.
“It’s a young man’s game and I’m 70 years old,” said Parcells at the NFL Alumni Celebrity Golf Classic at Hackensack Golf Club on Tuesday. “Time for someone else to do it.”
Parcells coached the Giants and Jets along with the Patriots and Cowboys before working as director of football operations for the Dolphins from 2007-2010. He served as a consultant in Miami for another year before finally cutting ties in March. Parcells currently works as an analyst on ESPN.
“Of course I miss it; it was my life's work," Parcells said. "I like football, I watch it, I’m interested in it, commentate on it on Sundays. But time for someone else to drive the train.”
Parcells, one off 11 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2012, said he’s been golfing regularly in his time off but couldn’t play in Tuesday’s outing because of a sore back. His emotional connection to Hackensack Golf Club runs deep, however: Parcells grew up nearby and learned to play golf on the course with his father; he also washed cars for tips in the parking lot as a kid.
Others participating in the inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic included Giants’ legends like Hall of Famer Harry Carson, tight end Mark Bavaro, running back O.J. Anderson and linebacker Carl Banks.
