Bob Glauber's NFL quick hits
Five go from zeros to heroes
- Parity speaks: Five teams -- Buffalo (5-2), Carolina (2-6), Cincinnati (5-2), Detroit (6-2) and San Francisco (6-1) -- already have equaled or surpassed their win totals from last season.
- Now that Chiefs receiver Jonathan Baldwin has returned to the lineup after recovering from a broken thumb he suffered in a fight with teammate Thomas Jones, the Chiefs' receiving corps suddenly looks strong. Baldwin had five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 home win over San Diego. Teammate Dwayne Bowe has four touchdown catches in his last five games.
- The Saints are looking for a bounce-back at home against Tampa Bay after an upset loss in St. Louis last week. There's a good chance that happens if Drew Brees continues his strong play at home. Since the start of the 2008 season, he's 22-7 at the Superdome, completing 70.1 percent of his passes and producing a 109.5 rating.
Obscure stat of the week: The 49ers are the first team since the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans to rush for a touchdown and not allow a rushing touchdown in each of their first seven games.
- Carson Palmer makes his first start of the season for the Raiders, who come off a bye after getting pummeled, 28-0, at home by the Chiefs.
- If the Bengals beat the Titans to win their fifth in a row, it will be their longest winning streak since 1988, the season they went to the Super Bowl.
