Green Bay was my preseason choice to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLVII. But the Packers' lackluster defense and anemic running game make them a tough cover against more gritty, ball-control teams such as San Francisco (which beat the Pack, 30-22, in Week 1) and tonight's opponent, Chicago.
Even in a short week, the betting line has been fluid, with the Packers between a 4- and 7-point favorite. The Packers are 7-2 overall and against the spread in the teams' last nine meetings.
Although I have trouble seeing Green Bay starting 0-2, Chicago has the right balance on offense, an opportunistic defense and solid special teams to keep the score close. Take the points.
The pick: Bears
