With the NFL's renewed emphasis on making sure defensive players don't take gratuitous shots on offensive players, there's a general split down the middle on whether players are for or against the idea. Defensive players hate it, offensive players love it.

But not all offensive players. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said the league's stance is misguided. "I think all of it is insane," he said.

Jacobs believes the increased scrutiny on vicious hits by defenders will lead to more big plays on offense.

"You're going to get a lot of big plays because [defensive] guys don’t want the $50,000 fine or the suspension, so guys are going to start missing tackles," he said. "They think they've got [the player] right in front of them, and they can’t do anything about it.

"I’m an offensive player, and I think it’s insane," he said. "It’s been football for how many years now. It’s that kind of game that we ‘ve played."
