Brett Favre says this is his last year...
In officially announcing Wednesday that he is returning for a 20th NFL season, Brett Favre unofficially gave notice that this will be his final year in the NFL.
"Twenty years, and I'm done," Favre told reporters during his news conference Wednesday in Minnesota.
“This is the last year of my contract,” he continued. “I’m sure a lot of people are like, 'Yes,' including my family. 'We love watching him play but we can't take the agony.' It was obviously a tough decision to come back. I can't say I'm going to do anything different than I did last year. Preparation, effort, leadership, commitment. I'd love to think that I'll play better. I'm going to do everything I can to help this team win and see what happens.”
Insert eye-roll here. After all, it’s hard to take Favre seriously when he has retired and unretired each of the last three years. About the only way he will most assuredly not play next season is if there’s a lockout. But if there’s a 2011 season, rest assured Favre will be thinking about playing in it.
