Broncos release quarterback Orton
Kyle Orton has gone from Jay Cutler's replacement to Tim Tebow's backup to the unemployment line. The Broncos released the 29-year-old quarterback yesterday, six weeks after benching him following a 1-4 start.
Orton shouldn't be out of work for long. Among possible landing places are his former team, the Bears, the Texans and the Chiefs.
The Bears' Cutler (broken right thumb) might miss the rest of the regular season. The Texans' Matt Schaub (foot) is out indefinitely. The Chiefs' Matt Cassel had season-ending hand surgery.
Tomlin: Big Ben will play. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Ben Roethlisberger's fractured right thumb won't keep him out Sunday against the Chiefs.
