The Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Chase Daniel have agreed on a three-year contract, according to a person familiar with negotiations.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because free-agent deals can’t be finalized until Wednesday afternoon. Daniel spent the past three seasons backing up Alex Smith in Kansas City, where new Eagles coach Doug Pederson was the offensive coordinator.

Daniel’s addition likely means Mark Sanchez won’t return to play behind Sam Bradford. The Eagles signed Bradford to a two-year deal last week.

The 29-year-old Daniel played his first three seasons with New Orleans and last three for the Chiefs. He is 1-1 in two career starts.
