Chiefs hold breath on Jamaal Charles
Had it not been for Adrian Peterson's remarkable recovery from ACL surgery last year, Jamaal Charles might have gotten some more attention about his own ACL recovery.
After all, the Chiefs' running back rushed for a career-high 1,509 yards after returning from a knee injury he suffered the first game of the 2011 season. And he did it despite playing for the NFL's worst team.
The Chiefs finished 2-14 last season.
So it's no wonder there was plenty of anxiety earlier today when Charles went out of practice with what was described with a foot injury. Head coach Andy Reid said he wasn't too concerned about the severity of the injury, but we've seen plenty of running backs struggle with foot problems. Just ask the Giants, who had to part ways after last season with tailback Ahmad Bradshaw because of continued foot problems.
Hopefully for Charles' sake, the problem is only a minor one. Otherwise, those visions of a team going from worst to first might soon disappear.
