The Redskins moved quickly to fill the void left by the season-ending Achilles injury to tight end Fred Davis. The team has re-signed veteran tight end Chris Cooley, who was released in training camp.

The move makes plenty of sense. While Cooley may not be the big-time playmaker he was a few years ago, his familiarity with Mike Shanahan's offensive system and the fact that he worked extensively in training camp with rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III makes Cooley the perfect replacement.
