The long and sometimes nasty contract holdout of Titans running back Chris Johnson is over.

The team has given Johnson a four-year, $53.5 million deal, including $30 million in guaranteed money, according to Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. Per Wyatt, Johnson will now make $13 million this season, instead of the $1.1 million he had been scheduled to receive. He'll make $31 million over the first three years of the deal.

There had been signs in recent days of movement in contract talks, and the breakthrough finally came today. The deal means Johnson will be in uniform for the Titans' regular season opener, and that all the acrimony associated with the negotiations will now go away.
