Peyton Manning has lost another top target for the season. Colts receiver Austin Collie suffered a concussion Sunday against Jacksonville, and the team placed him on injured reserve Wednesday. It was his second concussion this season.

The Colts already had lost tight end Dallas Clark and receiver Anthony Gonzalez for the season, and running back Joseph Addai missed the past eight games with a shoulder injury.

Although Collie is in his second year, Manning said he feels as if he's losing a veteran. "He's fast, he's got a good feel for zones, he understands defenses," Manning said.

Despite missing five games and most of three others, Collie has a team-high eight touchdown catches, is second in receptions (58) and third in yards (649).

Eagles might see Favre

As the Vikings have been reminded this season, ruling out Brett Favre is never easy. That's why interim coach Leslie Frazier is still holding a spot in the starting lineup for the 41-year-old quarterback in case he recovers quickly from the concussion that knocked him out of Monday night's game against the Bears. The Vikings will visit the Eagles Sunday night.

Brady has flu

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (flu) skipped practice. Dan Connolly (concussion) also missed practice three days after his 71-yard kickoff return against Green Bay. Earlier yesterday, Connolly became the second offensive lineman ever to be named AFC special teams player of the week.

Kindle might sit out '11

Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle might be forced to miss a second straight season in 2011 because of the uncertain status of his fractured skull. He sat out this season after falling down two flights of stairs in late July. Kindle said his future is "up in the air" because doctors are uncertain how his skull would react to taking a hit.

Around the league

Workers are finally close to clearing the Metrodome roof of snow and ice so that more substantial repair work can begin on the home of the Vikings . . . Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (Achilles' tendon) will sit out his second consecutive game tonight when Pittsburgh hosts the Panthers.
