Cooley may miss Giants game
The Redskins plan to lean heavily on Chris Cooley, but the flamboyant tight end might miss the opener against the Giants on Sept. 11.
Per Rich Campbell's Twitter account, head coach Mike Shanahan said Cooley's status for the opener is in question because of a knee problem.
Cooley had off-season knee surgery, and has had to have the knee drained several times since because of fluid buildup. In his absence, Fred Davis has stepped up and will be the likely starter on opening day and perhaps well into the season.
