Former Jets receiver Jerricho Cotchery, released by the Jets last week after he asked out because he felt he wasn't in the team's long-term plans, feels right at home in Pittsburgh, where he signed earlier this week.

"That's exactly why I came here - to play for a Super Bowl contender," Cotchery said, per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "And the atmosphere. The way they handle their guys over here, it's something I need at this time. It's the best atmosphere for me to thrive in as a player and as a person."

Cotchery felt alienated from the Jets after their signed Plaxico Burress to a one-year contract and then pursued former Ravens receiver Derrick Mason, who eventually signed with the Jets.
