Cowboys use six field goals to edge 'Skins
Tony Romo's ribs held up just fine. So did Dan Bailey's leg.
Romo persevered through pain to set up Bailey for six field goals, including a 40-yarder with 1:57 left to give the host Cowboys an 18-16 win over the Redskins Monday night. Both teams are 2-1.
Anthony Spencer chopped the ball from Washington quarterback Rex Grossman with 28 seconds left, and linebacker Sean Lee recovered it.
Peyton's status quo
Colts owner Jim Irsay used Twitter Monday to clarify comments he reportedly made at a private breakfast in Indianapolis. In his tweet, Irsay said they are "taking it month by month'' with Peyton Manning and there was an "outside chance'' he could return in December.
After having neck surgery Sept. 8, Manning was expected to miss at least two months and possibly the entire season.

Fox studio host Curt Menefee said the production team had told announcer Daryl Johnston that the headlines about Cutler's performance in last season's NFC Championship Game were from real articles, "while in fact they were not."
