Culpepper in 49ers' tryout
We haven't heard much lately from 1999 first-round quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who last year played for the Sacramento Lions of the United Football League.
But the 49ers will give Culpepper a look-see this week, according to Profootballtalk.com. The move is seen as the clearest indication yet that incumbent starter Alex Smith has yet to cement his job for first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Culpepper enjoyed a solid career early on in Minnesota, but wound up bouncing around to the Dolphins, Raiders and Lions before giving the UFL a shot last year.
