Cutler: I shouldn't have bumped teammate
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who has taken plenty of criticism in the wake of his move to bump left tackle JaMarcus Webb during last Thursday's game against the Packers, said he should have thought better of making contact with his teammate. But he didn't apologize for yelling at him for poor pass protection.
"I probably shouldn't have bumped him," Cutler said during a radio interview. "You know, I'll go with that. As far as me yelling at him and trying to get him going in the game, I don't regret that. Shouldn't have bumped him. I'll stick to that."
Cutler said he wouldn't get into any specifics about what he and Webb discussed.
"I think that is between me and Ja??Marcus," he said. "It's in the past and we're moving on. He's our left tackle, he's my left tackle. I expect him each and every week to play at a certain level and I think he expects himself to play that well, too."
When asked about a comment from Packers safety Charles Woodson, who referred to Cutler as "Same old Jay" after he threw four interceptions against the Packers, Cutler wouldn't go there.
"I'm not a fan like you," Cutler said. "I'm not gonna read every single part of stuff, what people say and go, 'Oh, he's right. Maybe I should call him and say something.' ... It's not how it's gonna go down."
