Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who stayed away from training camp in a bid to secure a more lucrative contract, reported to the team today and is practicing this afternoon.

Jackson is scheduled to earn $565,000 in base salary this year, the final season of his four-year rookie deal. He was a second-round pick in 2008. If Jackson hadn't reported by tomorrow, he would have lost a year of service toward free agency. If he doesn't sign a new deal before next year, Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent in 2012.

Jackson, 24, caught 47 passes for 1,056 yards and six TDs last year. His 22.5-yards-per-catch average was the best in the NFL. He also averaged 11.6 yards on 20 punt returns, and he scored a 65-yard touchdown against the Giants on Dec. 19 at the Meadowlands that helped Philadelphia beat their NFC East rivals and secure the divisional title.
