Dolphins, VH1 pull the plug on Chad Johnson
It's over with the Dolphins for Chad Johnson. And it's over with VH1 for Johnson and his wife, Evelyn Lozada.
In the wake of Johnson's arrest on misdemeanor charges of assaulting Lozada during a domestic dispute over the weekend, the Dolphins released Johnson last night. And VH1 released the couple from the show, "Ev and Ocho," a reality series that was due to air soon.
VH1 cited the "the seriousness of the allegations" against Johnson, who was accused by Lozada of head-butting her during the argument.
Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said today that Johnson wasn't released for any single incident, and that Johnson was not the right for the team.
Does Johnson get another shot at the NFL? Anything's possible, but keep this in mind: The team that signs him might face the possibility that Johnson misses time with a suspension. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has wide latitude when it comes to player discipline, and even if Johnson is not convicted of a crime, he faces the potential for sanctions if Goodell feels that he violated the league's personal conduct policy.
