Favre has avulsion and stress fractures in ankle
Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's ankle problems got worse last night in a 28-24 loss to the Packers. A lot worse.
According to Vikings head coach Brad Childress, Favre suffered an avulsion fracture of the calcaneus and a stress fracture in his ankle, per the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Even so, it's still too soon to rule Favre out of Sunday's game in New England.
Favre was in a walking boot today, and his status will be reviewed on a daily basis.
Childress also said the NFL backed his assertion that Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe should have been given a touchdown on a pass from Favre during Sunday night's 28-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The play was originally ruled a touchdown, but was overturned on replay.
