Former Giants running back Ottis Anderson said Friday he is not part of a lawsuit filed this week against the NFL and Riddell.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, lists Anderson as a plaintiff. But according to a news release from the NFL Alumni Association, Anderson has denied any involvement. The suit alleges the NFL concealed for decades the dangers of concussions. Riddell has been the primary helmet manufacturer for the league the last several decades.

"I support the NFL and NFL Alumni Association, and as the New York alumni chapter's former president, my concern is with the players," Anderson said in a statement. "I think there are more constructive ways of finding solutions to the issues we face than litigation."

Jason E. Luckasevic, an attorney with the Pittsburgh law firm Goldberg, Persky & White, confirmed in an email to Newsday that "a misunderstanding was made" regarding Anderson. Luckasevic added that "appropriate measures are being taken" to remove Anderson and his wife as plaintiffs.

Anderson has been an advocate for improved health care for retired players while serving as a member of the NFLPA's medical alliance committee, which is chaired by former Giants and 49ers center Bart Oates.
