Antrel Rolle wasn't playing for the Giants in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, but that didn't stop him from working for them.

The safety said he spent the game sitting next to free-agent-to-be Jermichael Finley, the Packers' tight end, selling him on the idea of coming to New York for the 2014 season. Apparently, it wasn't a difficult pitch.

"Actually, we were recruiting each other,'' Rolle said Tuesday night at the Thurman Munson awards dinner, where he was being honored. "He said that he would love to be a part of the Giants. Going up against this guy for a number of years now, I said I would love for him to be a part of the Giants so we don't have to face him.''

Tight end is one of the many areas the Giants offense will be looking to upgrade this offseason. If the Giants do pursue Finley, they may have an advantage because they recently hired former Packers tight ends and quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo as offensive coordinator.

"He was telling me Ben McAdoo is a brain, that he's going to keep defenses guessing, he's very smart,'' Rolle said of Finley's assessment of the new play-caller. "I just said, 'Yes!' I feel like our offense is definitely going to excel in his system and Eli is going to do what he does best, which is lead our offense. And the defense will be there to pick up the pieces and make sure we create more turnovers and give them more opportunities to do their thing.''

Finley, 26, had spinal fusion surgery in November after suffering an on-field injury. He played only six games, catching 25 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Giants were disappointed by the production of tight end Brandon Myers in 2013 and even parted ways with longtime tight ends coach Mike Pope this offseason.

If Finley is a Giant, Rolle thinks he can add something to the offense that was lacking.

"He's an extreme talent, he's an exceptional guy,'' Rolle said. "More importantly, he's a fiery guy, and that's something we can use on the offensive side of the ball, a guy with some intensity . . . He's a guy I would love to be a teammate with, and I think we could do some great things together.''
