Brandon Marshall may take Giant step back from media career

Brandon Marshall may be bringing the “Showtime” nickname to the Giants’ offense, but apparently he will be leaving the source of that moniker behind.
Asked on a conference call yesterday whether he will continue to appear as a weekly member of the cast of Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” the newest Giants receiver made it sound as if his budding media career will take a back seat until after his playing days are over.
“I will say that I won’t be doing a lot of media and television moving forward,” Marshall said, adding that he didn’t want to make any concrete statements about “Inside the NFL” until he spoke with the show’s producers.
Many suggested that by staying in New York and switching from the Jets to the Giants, Marshall could easily remain in his role with the program. Not quite. “Inside the NFL” tapes its shows on Tuesdays during the regular season, which is the players’ day off for the Jets. With the Giants, the players are off on Mondays and practice on Tuesdays.
It’s unclear whether that is the sole impetus for Marshall’s apparent withdrawal from at least a regular role on the show, or if the Giants requested he limit his appearances, or if it was a decision he made on his own. In any case, expect to see less of Brandon Marshall on television now that he is a Giant.
“Out of respect for the guys who have given me an opportunity, I want to talk with them because everything happened so fast,” Marshall said. “Those guys have been planning for this situation for a month now so they’re in a great position. But that’s also a team, so I want to make sure our transition or whatever way we go works for them as well. To answer your question, [roles in the media] will be really, really limited.”
