Coughlin wants Giants to stop committing turnovers

It almost sounded as if Eli Manning and Ahmad Bradshaw were horsing around in the backseat of the minivan the way Tom Coughlin's face got very serious and his voice grew very stern.

"It's got to stop," the Giants' coach said Wednesday.

He was talking about the turnovers the Giants have been committing. There have been 15 on fumbles or interceptions, and although Bradshaw held on to the ball tight last Sunday against the Texans, Manning threw a pair of third-quarter picks that could have derailed the Giants' first half supremacy.

Now they face the Lions, who forced 14 turnovers in five games. "They thrive off of turnovers," Bradshaw said. "You just have to know to be careful with the ball offensively and defensively we have to be the ones to get the turnovers."

The Giants' defense has done well creating those. They have six interceptions and have recovered four fumbles. But that still leaves a minus-5 turnover differential.

"You come out of a game, you feel good about it," Coughlin said of the defense's turnovers. "We've had a couple of games that were plus zero and we've [forced] three and two turnovers. You expect to be the team that wins the turnover battle in that situation, especially when you're ahead in the game. You're just trying to figure out the circumstances and how to play and we'd like to put an end to this."

O'Hara limited

Shaun O'Hara thinks he might be able to play against the Lions on Sunday. O'Hara worked with the team for the first time since Week 2. His ankle/Achilles injury is feeling good, he said, and he was able to participate in individual drills and take a few snaps with the team. He was listed as limited on the injury report. . . Bradshaw, who missed two days of practice last week with a sore ankle, practiced fully. "I feel great, man," he said. "One hundred percent. No setbacks. I feel good about it."
