Giants CB Jayron Hosley suspended four games for violating NFL substance abuse policy

Jayron Hosley is the second Giants defensive back in a week to be suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. He will serve a four-game suspension before appearing in any regular-season games, the league announced.
Fox Sports reported that Hosley was appealing the decision but dropped the appeal.
The announcement comes five days after safety Will Hill was suspended six games for violating the same policy. For Hill, it was his third drug-related suspension and the Giants waived him on Monday.
Hosley is eligible to participate in offseason training with the Giants and can participate in training camp and preseason games. He is eligible to return to the Giants’ 53-man roster on Sept. 26, the day after the Week 4 game against Washington.
Hosley, a second-round draft pick in 2012, is facing an uphill battle to make the team this summer. The Giants added two starting-caliber cornerbacks in free agency — Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond III) — and also re-signed Trumaine McBride. Hosley figured to be competing with Charles James, Zack Bowman and Bennett Jackson for playing time.
