Sunday night's Cowboys-Giants game averaged 17.1 percent of homes in major markets, the highest such figure in the six-year history of NBC's "Sunday Night Football."

The previous high was for the Cowboys-Jets game on this season's opening weekend. Its overnight rating was 16.9.

The 17.1 rating Sunday night was the best for any prime-time NFL game on a Sunday or Monday since 1998.

Dallas topped all individual markets with 37.1 percent of homes tuned in, followed by San Antonio (27.2) and Austin (26.3). New York tied for fourth with Albuquerque at 25.3.
