The Giants cut only one player to get to 75. The surgeons took care of the rest of the cutting.

Three players were placed on injured reserve by the team today: quarterback Jim Sorgi (shoulder), receiver Sinorice Moss (sports hernia) and linebacker Adrian Tracy (elbow). Moss underwent surgery this morning in Philadelphia to repair his injury while Tracy had surgery yesterday in Manhattan to repair ligament damage sustained when he dislocated his elbow against the Ravens on Saturday.

Sorgi said yesterday that the torn anterior capsule in his throwing shoulder could require surgery as well. That leaves Rhett Bomar as the backup to Eli Manning. Bomar was on the practice squad all of last season, so the Giants could be looking for a veteran to bring in.

The Giants also moved offensive lineman Kevin Boothe from active PUP to reserve PUP, meaning he’ll miss at least the first six weeks of the season. Boothe had surgery in the spring to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

The one player actually released  was rookie receiver Nyan Boateng, one of the few players who was in uniform on Saturday against the Ravens but did not play.

The Giants must cut their roster further this week, getting down to 53 by Saturday.
