Giants place CB Paulson Adebo on IR, could be shorthanded against Rams on Monday Night Football

The Giants will be facing one of the most explosive passing attacks in the league on Monday with a banged up secondary. Cornerback Paulson Adebo (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Deonte Banks (calf) did not practice after he was limited on Thursday, and Greg Newsome II (rib) was limited for the second straight day.
The Giants may need to turn to rookie Colton Hood or Nikko Reed, who was recently signed off the Chargers' practice squad, for meaningful snaps against the Rams, who feature reigning MVP Matthew Stafford throwing to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
“We’re ready,” Newsome said. “I feel confident in our secondary. No matter who is out there, we have guys who can go out and do their job at an elite level.”
The Giants had another important piece of their defense missing on Friday, too. Coordinator Dennard Wilson was not available due to family circumstances. Coach John Harbaugh said Wilson is expected back on Saturday in time to travel with the team to Los Angeles.
Harbaugh also said that putting Adebo on IR would allow him to fully recover from a nagging injury he had throughout the summer. He said Adebo, who was a big-ticket free agent acquisition last season but not a starter last week against the Cowboys, does not seem to need surgery. He will miss at least the next four games.
“He’s fully capable of playing at a high level,” Harbaugh said. “Hopefully he’ll come back and get through some of this stuff. He’s a top-level corner so you want him playing at a top level. That would be the goal.”
