Giants' Steve Tisch not expecting any issues with Eli Manning over contract extension talks

Giants chairman Steve Tisch declined Thursday to discuss a timetable for a potential contract extension for Eli Manning, but he expressed confidence the matter would be resolved without major complications.
Asked whether he expects a new deal for the quarterback before training camp opens next Thursday, Tisch said, "I can't answer that, but I know there's a tremendous amount of goodwill from Eli, from us, and his agent I guess has made some comments in the last couple of days which are very positive. I'm not anticipating any issues."
Manning is entering the final season of a six-year contract that is to pay him a salary of $17 million for 2015.
Tisch was speaking during an interview to promote the boxing film "Southpaw," which opens Friday and for which he served as a producer.
Asked whether there is anything new regarding unsigned defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who reportedly had his right index finger amputated after a fireworks accident earlier this month, Tisch said, "I'm sorry to say, there's nothing new."
Tisch did say, "It's been printed and it's very sincere: Above anything else I hope he's healing. I hope he will play great football in the future. I hope he's getting the best medical care available to him and I really personally and from my position with the Giants wish him all the best and I look forward to seeing him sooner than later.
"It's complicated, as you know, but [team president] John Mara and I, coach [Tom] Coughlin, [general manager] Jerry Reese, all the team, his teammates, wish only the best for him."
