The one thing I don’t like about the new draft format is that it makes a clear demarcation between guys in the first three rounds and guys in the fourth. There are still lots of good NFL players who come out of the fourth round all the time and they sort of become afterthoughts during draft weekend.

Anyway, the Giants had two picks in the fourth round today. They took tight end Adrien Robinson with the 127th pick and tackle Brandon Mosley with the 131st pick (a compensatory pick). Their next pick won’t be for a while; they traded the fifth-rounder for Keith Rivers and won’t be on the clock again until the 201st pick.

So who are these guys? Robinson is described as a pass-catching tight end who did not catch a lot of passes in college. He played at Cincinnati, where they don’t throw many passes to tight ends in the spread offense. He caught only 12 passes in his senior year. He’s listed at 6-4, 267 pounds.

Mosley was a tight end and defensive end in high school and community college until he became a tackle at Auburn. He was on the 2010 National Championship team at Auburn. He went from 270 pounds to 318 in his two years at Auburn. He started the final 24 games of his career at Auburn.

Will either of these guys make an impact or will they be lumped in with the “third-day” draft picks who never amount to much?
