Giants will have honorary captains repping 3 SB champs

Anderson began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and ran for 1,605 yards his rookie season. He topped the 1,000-yard mark in five of his first six NFL seasons. Injuries forced him into becoming a short-yardage and goal-line option before his career saw a resurgence with the Giants. He was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 1989 and Super Bowl MVP the following year.

There’s been a definite Super Bowl vibe to this Giants team this week, from players declaring that they can win it all to comparisons to the 2007 team.
To that point, the Giants are trotting out a few players who have won Super Bowl rings with Big Blue to be honorary captains in tomorrow’s game. David Tyree, Ottis Anderson and George Martin will represent the three Super Bowl-winning teams in Giants history at the pregame coin toss, according to Neil Best.
Now, for a home game, there really isn’t much for an honorary captain to do. The visiting team gets to call the coin toss. But the point will be that the Giants will have all of their Super Bowl winning heroes on the field with them for the coin toss and so will the Falcons. In other words, no one.
As long as the Falcons don’t lose the call and Tyree doesn’t shout out “We’ll kick!” they’ll serve their purpose well.
