Goff hears voices, Ross takes snaps and JPP looks like a player

A few other nuggets from the locker room and press conferences:
I asked Jason Pierre-Paul about the wrap he had put on during practice and he said it was just a precaution and his groin is feeling better. I asked him if he thinks he’ll dress on Sunday, what with five defensive ends on the roster. He said he’s starting on all four special teams, so he figures he is. I had my doubts.
Shook my head mournfully at Duke Calhoun, who now must find a new roommate after Seth Williams was terminated from the practice squad. “Tough business,” he said. But even he’s still trying to find his bearings in the business. “So they can just cut anyone any day they want?” he asked me. Yup. Welcome to the NFL.
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said that Jonathan Goff would be wearing the radio helmet and calling the plays in the huddle. Does that mean Goff will be the middle linebacker on sub packages? Probably. It’d be wasteful to have a radio to the helmet of a guy who could be on the sideline for one-third or more of the snaps. Fewell also said that we've only seen about 10 percent of the defense in the four preseason games.
Tom Coughlin said Aaron Ross took some snaps at scrimmage today. “He got a little better, moved a little better,” Coughlin said. “He took some plays. I thought he warmed up well. I thought he moved around pretty well.” Coughlin wasn’t ready to green-light Ross for Sunday’s game yet. “I would wait on that one,” he said. Tomorrow we’ll have a better idea of Ross’ availability because the Giants will label him as out, probable or questionable.
Ross, by the way, was the only Giants player who was limited in today’s practice. Shaun O’Hara and Gerris Wilkinson, who were limited yesterday, worked fully today. And as we noted Phillip Dillard did not practice.
For the Panthers, starting tackle Jeff Otah (knee) did not practice along with RB Tyrell Sutton and LB Jordan Senn.
