Injured Diehl likely to miss Sunday's game vs. Cowboys

The Giants were able to shuffle their offensive line against the Seahawks out of convenience. They may have to further juggle the lineup this week, but more out of necessity.
David Diehl, who has started every game of his eight-and-a- half year NFL career with the Giants, suffered a partially torn hamstring and another muscular injury in his hip on an extra- point in the first half of Sunday's game in Seattle, according to sources familiar with the results of tests conducted Monday. While his recovery time varies from several weeks to week-to-week depending on the source, it seems certain that his 127-game streak will end Sunday against the Cowboys.
This on the same day that the Giants had to put versatile backup lineman Adam Koets on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Tom Coughlin also said that he had no update on veteran center Shaun O'Hara, who missed the Seahawks game with a Lisfranc sprain in his foot.
The good news for Diehl is that he appears to not require surgery and the Giants are optimistic he'll return this season. The bad news is that until then they'll have some inexperienced players filling in, and some veterans playing out of position.
Shawn Andrews, who played well on Sunday in his first NFL start at left tackle, seems to have inherited the job because of Diehl's injury. Guard Rich Seubert likely will remain at center in place of O'Hara if he is unable to play. And at left guard, Seubert's usual spot and the place Diehl played mostly on Sunday, the Giants could insert rookie Mitch Petrus or Kevin Boothe, who is coming off the PUP list to replace Koets on the active roster.
"The thing that we can do is move around," Seubert said Monday. "We all know what we're doing at different positions, so that makes us versatile. Whatever the coaches want us to do, we're going to go in and do it, and we're going to give it all we've got."
