Injuries help cut Giants' roster to 75

The Giants cut only one player to get to 75. The surgeons took care of the rest of the cutting.
Three players were placed on injured reserve by the team: QB Jim Sorgi (shoulder), WR Sinorice Moss (sports hernia) and LB Adrian Tracy (elbow). Moss had surgery Tuesday morning in Philadelphia to repair his injury while Tracy had surgery Monday in Manhattan to repair ligament damage suffered when he dislocated his elbow against the Ravens on Saturday. Tom Coughlin said Sorgi likely will require surgery on the torn anterior capsule in his throwing shoulder.
The move could mean an end to Moss' career with the Giants. Sports hernia operations generally require a month or two of recovery time. The Giants could wind up waiving Moss with an injury settlement at some point this season.
The Giants also moved OT Kevin Boothe from active PUP to reserve PUP, meaning he'll miss at least the first six weeks of the season. Boothe had surgery in the spring to repair a torn pectoral muscle.
The one cut was rookie receiver Nyan Boateng. The Giants must cut their roster further this week, getting down to 53 by Saturday.
No apologies
Antrel Rolle confirmed that he called Ravens receiver Mark Clayton on Sunday, the day after his hit left Clayton with a concussion and drew a penalty flag from the official. Did he call to apologize?
"Apologize? This is football," he said. "I just called to make sure he was OK."
Giant steps
LB Chase Blackburn (knee) has been running in straight lines but said he won't play Thursday against the Patriots. He does hope to be back practicing Monday, though . . . TE Travis Beckum, who returned to practice Monday, was sidelined Tuesday with a flare-up of the same neck injury . . . G Chris Snee returned to practice following the birth of his son Monday. T Kareem McKenzie was back on the field after missing several days with migraines.
