JoJo Nicolas dead, former Miami football player briefly played for Giants

Former University of Miami football player JoJo Nicolas has died a day after getting into a car crash on a Miami Beach highway.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Nicolas' brother, Abner Davis, made a brief statement Wednesday night outside Jackson Memorial Hospital. Davis said Nicolas passed away around 5 p.m. that day.
Nicolas played for the Hurricanes from 2007 to 2011. In 2012, he briefly signed with the Giants as a rookie free agent.
The car Nicolas was driving crashed early Tuesday into the back of a tractor-trailer as he left South Beach.
