Josh Brown suspended by NFL for Giants’ opener

Giants kicker Josh Brown has been suspended one game by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy, the league announced on Wednesday. Brown will miss the Giants’ opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 11 and be eligible to return to the active roster on Sept. 12.
The nature of Brown’s transgression was not immediately clear.
“While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept it,” Brown said in a statement released by the Giants. “I have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team, and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and in my ability to move on and contribute to the team.”
Said coach Ben McAdoo: “We have been supportive of Josh and will continue to be, but we accept the league’s decision.”
Brown, 37, represented the Giants at the Pro Bowl after the 2015 season and signed a two-year contract with the team in the offseason. Backup kicker Tom Obarski has been with the Giants throughout the offseason and training camp and will presumably handle the kicking duties in Dallas in the opener.
