They say Jason Pierre-Paul is a raw player. Turns out he’s so raw that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing … even when he’s doing something well.

Pierre-Paul had a sack in Monday’s game against the Jets, making a nice move against starting right tackle Damian Woody. But when asked to describe the play, the Giants’ first-round draft pick had this to offer: “I don’t know what I did.”

He elaborated a little bit later

“I rushed and I figured out what he was doing and I went inside and came back outside and it was right there,” he said.

Pierre-Paul said his performance on Monday gave him more confidence that he can be a legitimate player in the NFL. He only wishes he was on the field a little longer.

“What I did, I wasn’t really feeling myself,” he said. “I feel if I had a couple more snaps I’ll be better than I am now. For me to get going, I have to be out there for a long, long time.”

He keeps making sacks like the one Monday, and that won’t be a problem.
