Justin Hilliard's uphill climb to make the Giants' roster just got steeper.

The second-year linebacker has been suspended two games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL announced Friday.

Hilliard, undrafted from Ohio State and claimed by the Giants early last season from the 49ers, never appeared in a game in 2021 and spent most of his rookie season on injured reserve (ankle).

He figures to be a longshot to make the team this summer.

He will be able to participate in training camp and preseason games before his suspension begins at the start of the regular season.
