Kiwi: 'All of our goals are still in front of us'

Mathias Kiwanuka may not be the fiery communicator that Antrel Rolle is. The Giants safety tend to SPEAK IN ALL CAPS quite a bit, especially when he gets going in his weekly WFAN radio segment like he did today. But Kiwanuka had some positive things to say on his weekly spot over on ESPN Radio in New York.
Among them was his declaration that the season is not over.
“All of our goals are still in front of us,” Kiwanuka said. “Yeah, it’s a horrible start, but we’ve been in situations where everybody counted us out before, we’ve played with our backs against the wall and we came out looking victorious in the end. That’s the main thing, that’s the main focus for us right now.”
Kiwanuka said he got a good sense of the team’s resolve from the debriefings and meetings that the players had on Monday, the day after their 38-0 loss and 0-3 start.
“One of the best things about Eli (Manning) is he’s even-keeled,” Kiwanuka said. “You’re not going to see him out there dance on the field when he does something, but you’re also not going to see him with his head down when something goes wrong. When he came in, you knew that this was something that was really getting at him. You knew this was something that was really important to him, and not just him but all the veteran guys. I can go down the entire list.
“That’s the thing that makes me excited, the thing that was glaring for me when I walked out of those meeting rooms yesterday was me, as a veteran guy, I know for a fact that I have all my dogs, they’re all with me. We’re all going to fight. Nobody is accepting this, nobody is putting their head down, and nobody at all is ready to pack it in. We’re ready to fight, we’re ready to turn this thing around so that we can win a championship.”
