Don't feel badly if you missed out on fantasy football points because you benched Larry Donnell last week. So did he.

The Giants tight end who has become a breakout star told The Record of New Jersey that he played the 49ers' Vernon Davis in lieu of himself and missed out on all the points that came with his seven-catch, three-touchdown performance against Washington. His team, which includes Drew Brees, Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin and Mike Wallace, lost by 15 points.

"Would've won if I played me," Donnell said. "During the game, I'm like, 'Really?' That's the honest truth."

Donnell became a must-claim in any fantasy league in which he was a free agent and a must-start for any owner who learned the hard way about keeping him on the bench. Even Donnell said he will now promote himself to the starting lineup on Sunday against the Falcons.

"Oh yeah," he said. "I'm in there."
