Manning returns to the scene of the sign

Eli Manning, the winning quarterback in the first regular-season game at Cowboys Stadium last year, signed his name to a wall in the visiting locker room after the victory. When he goes back on Monday, he said he’ll revisit the scene of the sign.

“It’ll be interesting to see if anyone else has signed the wall or if I’m the only one or if they erased it,” Manning told Dallas reporters in a conference call today.

Manning maintained that he meant no disrespect to the Cowboys or their stadium when he was asked to sign the wall by a locker room attendant, and he said he was surprised that it became such a big story.

“It’s a tradition in a lot of other stadiums,” Manning said. “It wasn’t explained very well."

If Manning gets to play in and win a Super Bowl this year, he'll be in the home locker room at Cowboys Stadium. Would he sign the wall in there too?

"I don't think so," Manning said, "but I'd like to be there."
