It’s LT’s ring, but it’s apparently not his auction.
Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring, which is being auctioned off by SCPAuctions.com, was put up for sale not by the Hall of Fame linebacker but by his son, T.J., to whom Taylor had given the championship memento. According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, who spoke with him, Taylor had no idea the ring was being auctioned off.
“LT wasn't aware at all that his son had put it up for auction,” Glazer reported on Twitter. “However, he had no problem with it [because] he feels they are now his son’s property.”
The ring has an estimated value of between $75,000 and $100,000, which right about now seems fairly accurate since the bidding has reached $89,568. Bidding will end Saturday night.
